    What to Expect When You Work with Us

    From your first enquiry through to resolution, our team is here to guide you with clear communication, practical legal advice, and a focus on achieving the outcome you need. Here’s what you can expect when working with Gibson Sheat.

    Whether you need support for a personal, business, or organisational matter, we’re here to make everything as clear and straightforward as possible. 

    Here’s what the typical process looks like when you work with us. 

    Start With a Discovery Call

    Every new client is offered a discovery call of up to 15 minutes with one of our lawyers. This gives you the chance to explain your situation, ask questions about how the legal process works, and get a sense of whether we’re the right fit. You’ll also get an honest view of how we can help. There’s no obligation to continue after the call.

    Gathering Information and Building a Plan

    If we’re the right fit, we’ll ask for relevant information and documents to help us to map out how we can best help you, the timelines and estimated costs.

    Engagement and Getting Set Up

    Once we’re clear on how we can best to help you to achieve your outcome, we’ll send you a Letter of Engagement that outlines the services we’ll provide, who you’ll be working with, and how our fees are structured. For some legal services such as property transactions, trusts, business lending, or company setups, we are required to carry out anti-money laundering (AML) checks. We’ll explain exactly what’s needed if this applies to your matter.

    Working Together Through Your Matter

    We’ll keep you informed at every key stage. Expect regular updates, transparent communication, and honest advice. If anything changes, we’ll tell you quickly and explain what it means for your matter. You’ll always know what’s happening and why.

    Final Steps, Billing and Closure

    As your matter comes to a close (or at regular intervals if the matter extends over several months), we’ll send you a clearly itemised invoice. We’ll provide all the final legal documents and let you know if anything else is required. You can pay using internet banking or credit/debit card. Our accounts team is happy to help if you need assistance.
