Donna helps people make informed decisions about ageing, care and legacy.

Donna Watt is a specialist in elder law, estate planning and trusts. She and Jessie Hunt lead Gibson Sheat’s Life Planning, Estates and Senior Law teams in Wellington and Lower Hutt and Masterton. Donna works closely with older New Zealanders and their families to help them make confident, informed decisions about the future.

Donna helps people plan ahead with confidence, offering guidance on wills, estate planning and the legal aspects of moving into a retirement village. She has specialist expertise in Enduring Powers of Attorney (EPAs) and provides clear, compassionate advice on when to put them in place and how to manage a loved one’s affairs when they’re no longer able to themselves. Donna also supports families with estate administration, elder care arrangements and trust matters, helping them navigate important decisions with clarity and care.

She is known for her calm presence and practical mindset. She listens carefully, communicates clearly and helps families feel supported during times of uncertainty or change.

With over a decade at Gibson Sheat and earlier experience in mediation, she brings a steady, solution-focused approach to sensitive situations. Her background continues to shape how she works today, offering empathy, perspective and guidance when it matters most.

Outside of work, Donna is a scuba diving enthusiast, a talented violinist, a proud grandmother and an active part of her local community.
