Dave Robinson

Dave Robinson is a trusted legal advisor, bringing over 5 decades of legal experience to every matter.

He works across a wide range of specialties and work types to assist business owners, organisations and private clients and families.

He has extensive experience in, and advises clients on, company structures, company law and governance, commercial contract, and commercial property development and leasing, as well as commercial and residential property subdivisions. His expertise incudes handling mergers and acquisitions, business sales and purchases of all descriptions. It also extends to advising on computer software development and associated agreements and licensing, franchising and other intellectual property matters, and manufacturing licensing and distribution agreements.

Alongside his commercial work, Dave maintains an active practice in all property matters and with his relationships with private clients, many of whom he has acted for decades and often across generations. He attends to trust work and guidance on these matters as well as estate planning and wills.
He is known for his practical and commercially sensible approach, a pragmatic mindset, sound judgment, long term thinking and care for clients. He helps clients navigate change and growth with confidence.

Dave is Gibson Sheat’s longest-standing partner, having been a law firm partner since 1977 and merging his previous law firm into Gibson Sheat in 1987.

He is a graduate of Victoria University of Wellington LLM (Hons).

Outside of work, Dave enjoys building and renovating, tinkering with cars and making his own wine and beer: activities he attacks with the same enthusiasm and attention to detail as he brings to his legal work.
