She supports clients through buying, selling, refinancing or leasing farms and commercial properties and regularly advises on development agreements and leasing arrangements.
Charlotte also helps clients set up new businesses, buy or sell companies or shares, structure shareholder arrangements, and register companies. She drafts and reviews commercial contracts, franchise agreements, finance documents and family lending arrangements.
Clients value Charlotte’s clear advice, practical thinking and ability to make complex decisions feel manageable. She also supports long-term planning, including wills, powers of attorney and decisions around retirement and aged care.
Before joining Gibson Sheat, Charlotte spent over 20 years in senior legal and compliance roles in New Zealand and the UK, including at the BBC and ACC. Her background includes developing privacy frameworks, managing official information requests and designing regulatory systems that balance legal obligations with practical realities. She holds a postgraduate Privacy Certificate (ISEB, UK) with distinction, a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Otago
Outside of work, Charlotte is involved in Wairarapa tennis, helps run local tournaments, and supports her children’s sports teams. She is also a beginner triathlete who enjoys making the most of the region’s outdoor lifestyle.
