Carolyn helps people and businesses make smart property decisions.

Carolyn Hintz is a commercial property lawyer who helps clients navigate everything from commercial property portfolios to one-off subdivisions. She advises developers, investors, syndicates, business owners, and rural clients on commercial sales and purchases, leasing, forestry rights, property development, and rural transactions.

She has a particular interest in matters that require careful structuring, including unit titles, easements and multi-stage subdivisions. Carolyn also supports clients with farm leases, property financing and specialist property instruments such as easements, covenants, and caveats.

Clients appreciate her clear advice, technical depth, and genuine love of property law. A self-confessed property enthusiast, Carolyn keeps a close eye on listings across the country and finds real satisfaction in helping people bring their property plans to life.

As well as working in private practice, Carolyn has worked at Land Information New Zealand (LINZ), where she gained a strong understanding of the land titles system from the inside out. That technical foundation continues to shape her practical, outcome-focused approach to complex land transactions.

Since entering legal practice in the early 2000s, Carolyn has built a reputation for being proactive, detail-focused and commercially aware. She is known for solving problems early and keeping momentum on time-sensitive transactions. Her experience spans everything from off-the-plan sales and development agreements to surrenders of easement, discharge of encumbrances and licensing or leasing arrangements.

Carolyn is an active member of the Property Law Section of the New Zealand Law Society and serves on its Land Titles Committee, contributing to national discussions and providing feedback to LINZ on issues affecting property professionals and their clients.
Outside of work, Carolyn enjoys traveling and spending time at the beach with her family.
